Victorian tailoring exposed with aristocratic touch and rustic influence of 1967’s movie “Far from the Madding Crowd”  are the indications for McQ Pre-Fall 2012 collection. Followed by the mainline of Alexander McQueen’s signature, Sarah Burton continues the legacy with the consistency for dramatic touches in McQ line. There are tomboy interpretations as well as lady like silhouettes underlining the structure and rhythm of the line. Military styles blend with elegant sharpness of the Victorian vixen.  The collection depicts interesting profiles outlining detailed ruffled blouses and high neck collars, aristocratic outwear and feminine contours in the dresses – strictly speaking uniformity and sophistication.  There is a feeling of a smart decorum clashed with punk attitude by subtle yet edgy detailing of zippers, chains, double wide belts, cropped leather gloves. The palette balances among chalky and creamy whites through coral splash of red and maroon, grey and black core. Interesting brush stroke prints remind us about Alexander McQueen’s affinity to surrealism.

After such aperitif I can’t wait for the main dish during the London Fashion Week in February 2012.
