Givenchy Spring/Summer 2012 Haute Couture

One of the most distinctive features during the Haute Couture presentations for Spring/Summer 2012 season was a remarkable collection of Givenchy accompanied with the impressive nostril piercing. This element successively merged the architectural wit, punk attitude and Ancient inspirations unveiling the edgy sophistication of the house through the artful costumes of Givenchy.

The nose ring was presented for the first time during the Menswear fashion show for Fall 2012. It was a well-directed prelude depicting the nose element on minotaur – inspired men silhouettes as well as the heroine accents in the mannish line. A strong factor of tribalism was translated into our times with the edgy elegance and mythological perception of power merging sporty styles with masculine skirts and urbane tailoring.

The nostril ring presented in both collections resembles the face decoration of Ancient civilizations including the tribes of Mayas, Incas and Aztecs as the attribute of power and cruel attitude. The nose ring managed to have a long legacy in the tribal culture of Native Americans tribes, India and Tibet as well.  What was intended to be a fierce appearance in the primeval, times nowadays can be regarded as a smart way to enhance the high-fashion performance.  This is clearly visible in the magazine editorials and covers how the fashion visuals are enhanced with the nostril rings from Givenchy depicting a new exquisite definition of tribal refinement.

nice piece, i love those nose rings actually, tisci’s aesthetic is so powerful. i’m not sure if i’m entirely a fan of the americana stars and stripes/matador effect of his fall menswear, but the spring couture was phenomenal. so dark and..almost gothic, i want to say? beautiful. absolutely beautiful.
